Dear SCSMI members,
As some of you may know, several years ago we started a Scholarly Interest Group (SIG) for Cognitive/Analytic film studies at the Society of Cinema and Media Studies. The next annual conference of the Society is in Seattle from Wednesday, March 19 through Sunday, March 23, 2014, and we would like the SIG to sponsor any panels or workshops in Cognitive and/or Analytic film studies that you might be proposing for the conference. The deadline for proposals is Friday August 30, 2013, and instructions for submitting proposals can be found on the SCMS website: http://www.cmstudies.org/?page=call_for_submissions. Please let us know if you will be submitting a proposal that it would be appropriate for the SIG to sponsor. We would like to make cognitive and analytical film studies much more visible in SCMS, and this is one way of doing so.
In addition, if you are a member of SCMS, it is important that you join the SIG. Instructions for doing so can also be found on the SCMS website: http://www.cmstudies.org/?page=groups_cognitive. Please do so as soon as possible.
If you would like to discuss possible panels or workshops, please contact us.
Sincerely,
Carl Plantinga and Malcolm Turvey
