Dear SCSMI-colleagues,
I have discussed the fascination of film violence with many of you as I was writing my article “Regardign violence” on this theme for the Projections issued edited by Dirk Eitzen (1, summer 2013). The ideas I got at this stage helepd me to develope further my thinking on other themes related to film vioelnce as I worked on my Facination of Film Violence, which came out this year, published by Palgrave Macmillan.
The first chapter covers for the most part the introducting to my biocultural appraoche which I developed in the projections article. The other chapters deal with issues such as The symbolism of evil in cinema, Poetics of fictional violence, Women and violence on screen as well as Relational and structural violence.
